Lest We Forget
Clegwell & Hartleyburn Community Hub Annual remembrance laying of Wreaths for Remembrance Sunday. The wreathes were laid at the Carr Ellison War Memorial and Hebburn Cemetery Kelly Graves, in honour of the fallen heroes who gave their lives for us.
We would like to thank local Business owner Wendy Stead from Thanks a Bunch in Hebburn for donating to Clegwell & Hartleyburn Community Hub, our Remembrance Poppy Wreaths. Wendy has asked for that we donate £50.00 in lieu of payment to charity. As Clegwell and Hartleyburn Community Hubs work within the community and support charities both local and national we will be donating the £50.00 that Wendy has requested plus and additional £50.00 to the Maxie Walsh Poppy Appeal for the Royal British Legion.
Remember those
who fought and fell
amidst the sound
of mortal shells.
Their time on earth
a living hell.
The sacrifice they made.
On battlefields
in foreign lands
they paid the price
that war demands.
As life flipped through
their trembling hands
For those back home they prayed.
Two minute silence
once a year.
We bow our heads.
We shed a tear.
Still not enough
that debt, I fear,
will never be repaid.
