Clegwell & Hartleyburn Community Hub (CIO), Trustees and Volunteers are celebrating after being awarded £10,000 in National Lottery funding to continue supporting its work with helping and supporting communities through purchasing of non-perishable items. Clegwell & Hartleyburn Community Hubs, based in Hebburn, South Tyneside, will use the cash to provide and purchase non-perishable items / food and deliver to our food banks.
Clegwell & Hartleyburn Community Hubs (CIO) have been running independently as a Charity since 2017 and is staffed and also supported by many volunteers.
The new funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, which distributes money raised by National Lottery players for good causes and is the largest community funder in the UK, will see the Charity providing support to the communities through the Food Banks at this time of difficulty.
Chair, Liz McHugh, says: “We’re delighted that The National Lottery Community Fund has recognised our work in this way. Now, thanks to National Lottery players we will be able to continue our support to provide Non-perishable items and food to the foodbanks. This is important because it helps our communities who are most at need in these uncertain times.
Cllr Nancy Maxwell, Trustee, says: As South Tyneside Council’s Lead Member for the Voluntary Sector, Partnership and Cooperatives and Secretary of Clegwell & Hartleyburn Community Hub CIO, I welcome the award by the National Lottery. It means that our Hebburn community-based organisation can continue to support our food banks in ensuring that essential supplies are distributed to those in need of support.
